Ann Arbor, Mich. (January 29, 2020) — Climb Marketing launched its first annual charitable profit-sharing program with $4,000 in donations to eight different non-profit organizations.
Climb’s Charitable Giving Program is part of the digital marketing agency’s pledge to give back to the communities where employees work. On an annual basis, the agency will dedicate a portion of profits to charitable giving, and divvy the funds up between employees who may nominate one or more 501(c)3 nonprofits to receive donations.
The 2019 Charitable Giving Program focused on charitable 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations that operate within Southeastern Michigan or the greater Nashville, Tennessee area – the two areas where the agency’s offices are located. Within Michigan, donations were made to Washtenaw Literacy, the Student Advocacy Center, LACASA, Alternatives for Girls, and The Ferndale Cat Shelter. Team members from Nashville nominated PENCIL, Musicians on Call, and Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library.
Jeremy Lopatin, Climb Marketing’s Founder and President, initiated the charitable giving idea to ensure that a portion of the agency’s good fortune flows back into the communities that sustain its employees. As Climb Marketing grows and adds employees in 2020 and beyond, the agency’s leadership hopes to make larger contributions to an increasingly diverse array of charities.
“The mission of Climb Marketing is to build a digital marketing agency that elevates our clients, colleagues, and communities,” Lopatin said. “Our Charitable Giving Program is central to achieving that mission, and I’m so proud that we’re making it a reality.”
Among the first wave of donation recipients, four are dedicated to literacy and academic success. Washtenaw Literacy is committed to eliminating illiteracy within Washtenaw County, Michigan, and provides reading, writing, and ESL tutoring. The Ypsilanti-based Student Advocacy Center offers free advocacy services to students and families to help them succeed academically and realize their right to an equitable education. Nashville-based PENCIL prioritizes the academic success of youth, linking community resources to Nashville public schools. Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is headquartered in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and since its founding in 1995, the organization has provided more than 100 million free books to children from birth until they begin school.
Other recipients include LACASA, which is based in Livingston County, Michigan, and is committed to the support and advocacy of survivors of child abuse, domestic violence and sexual assault. Detroit-based Alternatives for Girls strives to provide homeless and high-risk girls and young women with resources and opportunities to be safe, to grow strong, and to make positive choices.
Musicians on Call is a national organization with an office in Nashville that brings live musical performances to the bedsides of patients undergoing medical treatment or individuals in medical facilities. The Ferndale Cat Shelter is a no-kill cat shelter dedicated to elevating the standards of care and guardianship for cats and kittens throughout Metro Detroit.
The amount allotted to each team member to donate was divided proportionally based on the share of total time each employee worked in 2019. Contributions were made to the charities in January, 2020 after profits were totaled for the previous year.
